Fortunately, each of us holds the key to help minimize the negative impacts of a disaster in our homes and communities. How? By being prepared. Here are some basic steps:

    • Copy of birth certificate, passport, medical and house insurance, pet records


    • Check on family members and neighbors   

    • Follow state and local agencies via web and social media sites for the latest updates

    • Sign up for free alerts by contacting your county or local officials (California)

    • Obtain information from legitimate and trusted news sources
