POISON OAK, LIKE CANDY FOR GOATS!
The DGF goat crew working in poison oak heaven.
There is yet another reason why goats are truly the Greatest Of All Time! These ruminants are not affected by poison oak, whatsoever. Unlike humans, goats won’t suffer any rash while being in contact with the plant and ingesting it won’t be poisonous either. In fact, to goats, poison oak is like an exquisite treat!
Warning for humans: “Leaves of three, leave them be.”
Whenever poison oak is present on a job site, our goats run to it the minute they notice the plant. They devour it as soon as they can. This adds to the success of the goatscaping process because it benefits the landowners who want those plants trimmed.
A goat’s motto: “Leaves of three, leave them to me!”
And there is more good news, especially for people who raise goats for milk products. According to a team of UC researchers, “farmers using dairy goats to clear poison oak need not worry about contaminating the goat’s milk.” So, as a true goat would say, “leaves of three, leave them to me!”
